About Tim Smith
When I was 7 years old, I woke up and found two presents under the Christmas tree – a dirt bike and an easel. To this day, they are the best presents I can imagine. I grew up ripping through the fields and creeks of Tennessee on ever larger motorcycles, but for me, there was nothing that took my heart like being around the paint or soaking in art books. I still think the smell of oil paint is the perfect olfactory experience.
Then at one point, I had to get a job. I followed a path of commercial art, and over the last 25 years I have been lucky enough to work with amazing talent, travel the world, and create iconic art in print, video and digital mediums. In between long days and late nights, I find studio time to paint. It is the one thing I do in life where I love to hear opinions, but I answer to no one. I work in oil and the majority of my subjects are the majestic marsh and low lands of the Southern United States.
